Training Center hosts joint agency tabletop exercise

CAPE MAY, N.J.  - The command for Coast Guard Training Center Cape May in conjunction with local, state, and federal agencies will participate in a joint agency tabletop exercise to discuss best strategies to respond to an active shooter incident aboard the training center Monday, June 6, 2011 at 9 a.m.

WHAT: Training Center Cape May will host a joint agency table top exercise with Coast Guard Training Center Cape May units, Coast Guard Investigative Service, City of Cape May Police, Wildwood Crest Police, Cape May County SWAT, Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigations Atlantic City Office, Atlanticare, Cape May County Office of Emergency Management, Lower Township Police, and Coast Guard observers from Coast Guard Training Center's Petaluma, Calif., and Yorktown, Va.

WHEN: Monday, June 6, 2011 at 9 a.m.

WHERE: Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, One Munro Ave, Cape May, New Jersey. Interested media should call (609) 898.6362 for security access.

WHY: To increase communications and partnerships with local agency partners and to ensure most effective response from all parties in the event of an active shooter or similar incident aboard training center Cape May.

Training Center Cape May is the only enlisted accession point for the United States Coast Guard and is responsible for training more than 4,000 Coast Guardsmen a year.
