Media Advisory: South Jersey families host 250 Coast Guard recruits for Thanksgiving

Who: American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter and U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May

What: The American Red Cross will be pairing basic training recruits with host families, so they can celebrate Thanksgiving Day with a gracious family while they are separated from their loved ones.

Reporters will be granted full access to speak with families, recruits, and Coast Guard and Red Cross leaders about this moving and worthwhile event while they are visiting.

When: Thursday 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Where: Training Center Cape May Guardian Chapel
1 Douglas Munro Ave
Cape May, N.J.

How: Reporters will start by meeting with recruits and families at the Chapel to see “pick up,” which pairs recruits with one of 92 host families. The reporters will then follow a family to their home once recruits are chosen for pre-designated families who have agreed to have members of the media in their home.
