ROMEO 182 WEEKLY JOURNAL
Graduation 1/8/2010

Formation and the first training week.

On a Tuesday evening, recruits from all parts of the nation flew to Philadelphia Airport and got on a bus with no idea of what to expect. Most of us were nervous and anxious as we entered the town of Cape May, NJ. As we passed through the gates to the base, the bus stopped and everything went silent. A couple of minutes later we were introduced to the Company Commanders. This was our first wakeup call that for the next two months, every single person was going to have to focus, listen, and move fast. That night was the birth of Company Romeo-182. The first few days were spent preparing for our first day of training. Stress levels were high as we were all expected to adapt quickly and get ready to take on new challenges. The first week of training we were introduced to our weekly gym workouts. The company also took its swim test to make sure our bodies are fit for any situation that Mother Nature might throw at us. Romeo-182 also spent Thanksgiving away from familiar friends and family, but the galley took time from their holiday to prepare us a delicious turkey dinner. Our classes are also helping transform us into the honorable men and women we all want to be. This is done through the Instructors and Company Commanders that have many years of dedicated service in the Coast Guard. As Romeo-182 heads into the following week, teamwork and discipline will need to improve in order for our goals to be met.
