CAPTAIN CRUNCH

We are definitely not sea ready and in the nautical world we would be considered scaly wags.  We had a lot of stress and we had to anchor down and endure the high seas this past week.  The phrase “It’s always calm before the storm” must be true because we started off the week with some therapeutic range practice with the .40 CAL, boot shining and our individual pictures.  Then in the blink of an eye we were packing up our 60 pound sea bags and running down the ladders doing timed drills.

In the later part of the week X-RAY 182 had our first full on physical fitness test, which unfortunately a quarter of the company did not pass.  This means very early mornings for them!  On the positive side, everyone passed the mid-term and our practical exam on knots as well as our helmsman simulator which simulated steering a vessel.  X-RAY 182 even shed some blood this week while participating in the Red Cross blood drive.  We also got to beat a rhythm on one another, all in fun of course, in our Saturday morning pugil stick royal.

We have, unfortunately, been titled “Landlubbers” after our dream sheets were filled out on Thursday.  Our blue water company commanders were disappointed in the lack of cutter choices, so they banned Captain Crunch until we receive our orders this coming week.  We have a huge week ahead of us so keep us in your thoughts.  “And that’s the way it is.”
