Week 05 This week was an all around good week. Our Company Commanders took exceptional care of us and even had a surprise for us on Thursday. Monday At 0530 we were out on the track stretching for our Physical Fitness Examination mile and a half run. Altogether the company did great, only 01 recruit did not pass their run. We had 03 seamanship classes which filled our entire day. Our classes were as following: Flags & pennants, Radio Procedures, and Signaling Devices. That evening our DaVinci team got together and began working on the Company Tee Shirts and Company Ditty Bags Tuesday In the morning we went to the Uniform Distribution Center and received our Tropical Blue long uniforms and our Bravo jackets. We all looked dashing while wearing them. In the afternoon we went to seamanship for our Radio Procedures practical and test, which turned out so well that our instructor let us use 02 types of signal flares and a signal smoke. The DaVinci team was working hard, and diligently to pull their designs together, they were already close to finishing the tee shirt. Wednesday After morning chow we headed over to the gym and completed our last Bike workout, it was difficult and fulfilling. That afternoon we went to Goff Hall for a second phase of seamanship classes. We learned how to utilize a Personal Floatation Device, also known as a lifejacket. During our Personal Floatation Device course, we did some drills taking the life jackets on and off in 30 seconds. For the first drill, the PFD was just laying in front of us. The second drill was harder due to the fact that we made two different sculptures with our PFD's then had to put them on in 30 seconds. The last drill was the most fun, it was a motivational exercise to see who could put the PFD on the fastest. Thursday This was by far the best day of the week. We went to the gym for a Cybex workout, noticing many improvements across the board. And then went to Operational Risk Management Class. After chow we went to Finance Class. When Finance Class was over we sat patiently waiting for our Company Commander. When they showed up it was not just 01 of them, it was our Section Commander, Chief Garry, and all three of our Company Commanders, Chief Peralta, SK1 Douglas, and MST1 Fisher. They began reading off our orders, it was an amazing day. Friday We received our Yellow Fever and Small Pox vaccinations that morning. And worked on Manual of Arms that afternoon. The DaVinci team finished the Tee Shirt design in that time frame. Saturday We had fun learning how to do the Confidence Course that morning. And that afternoon we made James Hall look spotless from topside to down below. Sunday We relaxed in Divine Hours, made our uniforms look good, cleaned our racks and wrote letters home. At 1330 we went on a two and a half mile off base run. No one fell out and we looked and sounded amazing as a company. That evening we called our future units and received all the information needed to report to our next duty station. That was Victor-183's week. Long, hard, but an amazing week altogether and we are happy to be one company and one family. |
