Uniform 183 weekly journal |
|
|
The end of week 06, the beginning of week 07. At this point in training we, the recruits of uniform-183, are unrecognizable from the mess of scared kids that spilled off the bus those few weeks ago. We are well into the transformation from civilian to guardian and conducting ourselves as members of the armed forces. Our training this week focused the uses of firefighting equipment and hose handling techniques which culminated in a shipboard firefighting simulation. We were issued our coveted military ID's and we arranged our travel requirements to report to our first unit. The biggest news of the week was something of precedent. Uniform company simultaneously performed the close order drill test and the manual of arms test, scoring a perfect 10 out of 10 on each test in the process. The display of precision and teamwork helped us earn a few hours of on base liberty, in which Uniform company took some hard earned time to unwind and relax. The relaxation was short lived however, and it was right back to business as we reported in. "All business" is the attitude we need to maintain as we continue to move forward. We've all been given the skills to succeed, and it is those skills that will see us through. |
